Total has presented its French refining roadmap to employee representatives, outlining plans to upgrade the Donges refinery and transform the La Mède refinery. The aim is to ensure the refineries can resist in a volatile environment and perform profitably. Total will invest €200m to create France's first biorefinery at La Mède, and €400m to upgrade the Donges refinery to capture profitable new markets with low-sulfur fuels. The plan also includes maintaining synergies with petrochemicals, developing robust activities, and supporting employees through the industrial reconversion. Total aims to cut its refining and petrochemical capacity by 20% in Europe by 2017.
