The project aims to produce 1,250,000 tons of polyethylene annually using AlphaButol® technology, following successful past collaboration on refinery modernization.

The €2.3B steam cracker project in Atirau will use local gas to produce 1,300 kta of ethylene. Completion is expected by 2028, with Lummus Technologies as the technology licensor.

The plant will produce 1.25 MT of polyethylene annually by 2029, creating 8,000 construction jobs and 800 permanent jobs, boosting GDP by 1.2%, and reducing import dependency.

The plant in Atyrau will boost Kazakhstan's economy, create jobs, and use advanced technology to convert ethane to ethylene, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions.

KazMunayGas and Sinopec signed an agreement for a polyethylene project in Atyrau, with a final investment decision expected in 2024. The project aims to leverage Sinopec's expertise and technology.
