Deal and investment
Air Liquide Karabatan Tech Gases LLP (ALKTG) signed a long‑term agreement with Silleno LLP to supply nitrogen and compressed dry air to Silleno’s planned polyethylene plant. The investment through ALKTG amounts to €70 million and will finance two nitrogen production units that ALKTG will build, own and operate.
Facilities and timing
The new units are described as state‑of‑the‑art, high‑purity and energy‑efficient, and will rank among the largest industrial gas facilities in the Central Asian region. Commissioning and initial deliveries are scheduled to align with the Silleno plant’s timetable, targeted for the end of 2028.
Location and context
The facility will be sited in the National Industrial Petrochemical Technopark (NIPT) Special Economic Zone, near ALKTG’s existing air separation unit (ASU) that currently supplies nitrogen to Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI). Air Liquide has been present in Kazakhstan since 2016 and this follows its first Karabatan basin investment in 2019.
Executive comment
Émilie Mouren‑Renouard, an Air Liquide Executive Committee member overseeing Central Asia operations, said the agreement marks a new milestone in the company’s long‑term Kazakhstan presence, strengthens its strategic alliance with KazMunayGas, and supports development of the country’s petrochemical sector.
