Groningen Seaports is the port authority for the Dutch North Sea ports of Delfzijl and Eemshaven, managing the seaports and adjacent industrial estates in the province of Groningen. It oversees land development, port infrastructure, and access for sea-going and inland vessels in the Northern Netherlands.
The ports host a diversified industrial cluster spanning chemicals, energy, circular industry, logistics, offshore wind assembly and maintenance, and data infrastructure. Groningen Seaports provides and coordinates essential utilities and connections for industry, including quays, terminals, road and rail links, pipeline corridors, and high-capacity power and steam networks.
The authority works with companies, knowledge institutions, and public bodies to enable safe, efficient port operations and long-term industrial development. It supports regional decarbonization initiatives—such as hydrogen, green gases, and e-fuels—aimed at reducing emissions from heavy industry and maritime transport, and facilitates permitting processes in cooperation with government authorities.
With strengths in bulk and project cargo, proximity to the North Sea, and space for industrial expansion, Groningen Seaports plays a central role in the Northern Netherlands’ chemical and energy value chains and in the transition toward more sustainable industrial production and logistics.
