Port of Antwerp-Bruges

About Port of Antwerp-Bruges

Port of Antwerp-Bruges is the unified port authority for the seaports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge in Belgium, operating one of Europe’s largest maritime gateways. It handles containers, liquid and dry bulk, roll-on/roll-off, and project cargo, and connects the North Sea with Europe’s industrial heartland through dense hinterland links.

The port hosts one of the world’s largest integrated chemical and petrochemical clusters, with refineries, steam crackers, extensive tank storage, and pipeline networks. It supports large-scale import, export, and distribution of base chemicals, intermediates, polymers, fuels, and industrial gases. Deepsea terminals combined with inland waterways, rail, road, and pipeline connections enable efficient multimodal access across the Benelux, France, and the Rhine-Ruhr region.

Port of Antwerp-Bruges also advances energy-transition and circular-economy infrastructure, including facilities for low-carbon molecules (e.g., hydrogen carriers and biofuels), carbon capture and CO₂ transport, and industrial electrification and waste-to-chemicals initiatives. These developments are pursued with industry and public partners to improve supply security, lower emissions, and strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of Europe’s chemical value chains.
