Silleno delivers project's largest fractional column
- The fractional column is 101.8 metres tall, 7.5 metres in diameter and weighs about 1,500 tonnes.
- The column will serve as the heart of the pyrolysis unit to separate ethylene, the key feedstock for polyethylene production.
- It was manufactured at AtyrauNefteMash and delivered to the National Industrial Petrochemical Technology Park special economic zone.
- Transport used a self-propelled modular transporter limiting axle pressure to 10 tonnes and proceeded at about 2–4 km/h during daylight.
Project context
The Sileno LLP project aims to create Kazakhstan’s first integrated gas chemical complex for polyethylene production. The fractional column is the first large-sized unit to arrive directly at the complex assembly site.
Equipment details
The delivered column measures 101.8 metres in height, 7.5 metres in diameter and weighs about 1,500 tonnes. It will function as the core of the pyrolysis unit where ethylene will be separated.
Transport and installation
The column was manufactured at the AtyrauNefteMash plant and transported to the National Industrial Petrochemical Technology Park special economic zone on a self-propelled modular transporter that kept axle pressure below 10 tonnes to protect roads; movements were carried out during daylight at approximately 2–4 km/h.
Significance
Delivery of this large-scale equipment establishes the technical foundation for active installation work and represents a step toward strengthening localization, confirming growing competencies of domestic manufacturers and expanding Kazakh companies' participation in major petrochemical projects.
