RWE AG

About RWE

RWE AG is a German energy group headquartered in Essen and one of Europe’s largest power producers. The company operates across the electricity value chain, with a portfolio spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar, hydropower, battery storage, and gas-fired generation, alongside legacy lignite assets. Through RWE Supply & Trading, it manages power, gas and commodity trading, route-to-market services, and LNG sourcing.

For industrial customers—including the chemical sector—RWE provides electricity and gas supply, long-term renewable power purchase agreements (PPAs), flexibility and balancing services, and risk management products related to energy markets and certificates. The company is expanding energy storage and gas/LNG capabilities to support security of supply, and is active in European initiatives around hydrogen and other power-to-X pathways.

RWE is shifting its generation mix toward low- and zero-carbon assets through large-scale investments in renewables and grid-scale storage, while maintaining flexible thermal capacity to back up intermittent generation. It operates in key markets across Europe and North America.
