About EIB

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the European Union’s long-term lending institution, owned by the EU Member States and headquartered in Luxembourg. Operating as part of the EIB Group alongside the European Investment Fund (EIF), it provides financing and advisory services to support EU policy objectives in the EU and worldwide. The EIB raises funds on international capital markets and channels them into projects that advance innovation, infrastructure, climate action, cohesion, and competitiveness, including through green and sustainability bonds.

For the chemical and process industries, the EIB finances projects that improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and enable industrial decarbonization and circularity. Typical areas include low-carbon and electrified process technologies, hydrogen and related infrastructure, carbon capture and storage/use, bio-based and recycled feedstocks, advanced materials and R&D, pollution abatement, and water and wastewater management. Financing instruments range from direct loans and project finance to intermediated lending, guarantees, equity via the EIF, and blended facilities with EU programs. All operations are subject to the Bank’s due diligence and environmental and social standards, with lending aligned to EU climate and sustainability objectives.
