Framework increase

The EIB board approved raising its debt financing framework for Nordic Ren‑Gas’s projects to EUR 680 million, up from a previous EUR 230 million mandate. The framework is designed to provide project‑level financing for Ren‑Gas’s portfolio of e‑methane projects in Finland.

Project portfolio and schedule

Ren‑Gas’s decentralised portfolio consists of six e‑methane production plants in Finland developed in close collaboration with local energy utilities to enable sector integration and use existing infrastructure. The company’s first Tampere project is targeted to start construction during Q4 2026.

Commercial foundation

Ren‑Gas has secured long‑term offtake contracts for green hydrogen and heat from the projects; those guaranteed offtake agreements form the foundation for project financing and support the company’s e‑methane value‑chain development.

Executive comment

Ren‑Gas CFO Juhani Häyrinen said the decision is an important milestone that provides evidence bankable green hydrogen projects can attract financing partners and expressed gratitude for the EIB’s trust in the company’s execution and business model.
