H2PPA agreements
Nordic Ren-Gas has signed long-term Hydrogen Power Purchase Agreements with Helen and a second renewable electricity supplier to supply physical renewable electricity and the corresponding Guarantees of Origin for its industrial-scale e-methane plant in Tampere, Finland.
Contract structure and operational flexibility
The H2PPA is tailored for renewable hydrogen production, combining physical renewable electricity, Guarantees of Origin, RFNBO compliance, balancing and verification in a single contractual framework. The structure allows the plant to adjust electricity consumption and hydrogen production in response to renewable availability and market conditions, and to increase output when renewable generation is abundant and reduce consumption during tighter periods to support system balancing.
Integrated e-methane value chain and project progress
The Tampere Power-to-Gas plant will use renewable electricity to produce hydrogen, which will be combined with captured biogenic carbon dioxide to produce renewable e-methane. The H2PPAs complement Ren-Gas’s long-term e-methane offtake, technology and project-financing arrangements, linking competitive Finnish renewable electricity with flexible production and a route to market and marking an important step toward the project’s final investment decision.
