Transaction Completion

BASF has finalized the sale of its Styrodur® business, an extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation material, to Karl Bachl Kunststoffverarbeitung GmbH & Co. KG (BACHL). The transaction, approved by relevant authorities, was completed on June 30, 2025. Financial details of the deal remain confidential.

BACHL's Expansion

In January 2025, BACHL expanded its sales reach by taking over the distribution of Styrodur® products. As a leading manufacturer of insulation materials in Germany and a long-time sales partner of BASF, BACHL has integrated the Styrodur® brand into its product portfolio. The company is optimistic about the brand's future and aims to continue successful collaborations with customers and partners.

BASF's Strategic Focus

BASF is redirecting its strategy towards expandable polystyrene (EPS) with its brands Neopor® and Styropor®. The company plans to increase Neopor® production capacity in Ludwigshafen by 50,000 tons, reaching a total of 250,000 tons annually by early 2027. This move is part of BASF's effort to strengthen its market position in the EPS sector.

Employee Transition

Approximately 50 employees involved in the Styrodur business at BASF SE will remain with the company, continuing their roles in production, marketing, and sales.
