Concession Details

TotalEnergies, through North Sea OFW One GmbH, has secured the N-9.4 offshore wind concession from the Federal Network Agency. This site is located 150 kilometers northwest of Heligoland in the North Sea, covering 141 square kilometers. The concession allows for the development of 1GW of offshore wind capacity over a 25-year period, extendable to 35 years.

Financial Commitments

As part of the concession agreement, Offshore Wind One GmbH will pay €18 million to the German federal government in 2026. This payment will support marine conservation and environmentally friendly fishing practices. Additionally, an annual contribution of €8.1 million will be made for 20 years to the electricity transmission system operator responsible for connecting the project, starting from the site's commissioning.

Strategic Review

Due to delays in connection timelines announced by German transmission system operators, TotalEnergies has initiated a strategic review of its concessions obtained since 2023. The company aims to engage with German authorities to explore development conditions for these projects.

Offshore Wind Portfolio

TotalEnergies' offshore wind portfolio totals 23 GW, with projects in the UK, South Korea, Taiwan, France, the US, the Netherlands, and Germany. The N-9.4 concession is near the N-9.1 and N-9.2 sites, jointly owned with RWE, allowing for potential synergies in construction and operation.
