OMV and Borealis Extend Partnership at Schwechat Industrial Site for OMV ReOil Project

OMV and Borealis, partners since 1998, are working together to advance the chemical recycling of post-consumer plastics. The OMV Schwechat Refinery supplies Borealis with petrochemical feedstock, and now the companies are exploring synergies in the OMV ReOil project to develop a circular economy for plastics. The OMV ReOil pilot plant, integrated into the refinery, can process up to 100 kilograms per hour of plastic waste into synthetic crude, which can be used as feedstock for the plastics industry or fuel. OMV and Borealis aim to scale up the plant further and believe that post-consumer plastics are a valuable resource.
