Project Overview
Saipem and Alboran Hydrogen have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop and construct five green hydrogen production plants. Three of these plants will be located in Italy, while the other two will be in the Mediterranean basin, specifically in Albania and Morocco.
Roles and Responsibilities
Saipem, a global solution provider in the energy and infrastructure sector, will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the plants. Alboran Hydrogen, which specializes in renewable projects, will coordinate the technological aspects with research institutes and manage authorization activities and supply chain agreements.
Green Hydrogen Hub in Puglia
The agreement includes the development of a green hydrogen hub in Puglia, Italy. This hub will consist of three plants located in Brindisi, Taranto, and Foggia. The project will involve collaboration with the National Energy Technology District, La Sapienza University, the Salento University, and the Brindisi Research Center.
Additional Mediterranean Plants
In addition to the plants in Italy, two more plants will be constructed in the Mediterranean basin. One will be in Albania, and the other in Morocco, which will focus on producing ammonia from green hydrogen.
