Expansion of Nylon Production
UBE will invest in additional nylon manufacturing capacity at its subsidiary, UBE Corporation Europe in Castellon, Spain. This expansion will add 40,000 metric tons to the current production capacity, bringing the total to 70,000 annual metric tons. The new capacity is expected to be operational at the beginning of 2018.
Advanced Technology and Applications
The new polyamide plant will utilize UBE's proprietary technology to manufacture various types of medium and high viscosity polyamides and co-polyamides. These materials are intended for technical applications in sectors such as the automotive industry, food packaging, industrial monofilaments, fishing nets, and engineering components.
Enhanced Site Capabilities
The Castellon site will benefit from higher downstream integration, increased production versatility, and improved sustainability. Additionally, a new facility for compounding will be completed at the same site, further enhancing its capabilities.
Job Creation
The expansion will create around 50 new direct qualified jobs, increasing the total workforce of UBE Corporation Europe to 500. This represents a 25% increase in the workforce over the last five years.
