Merger Announcement
Ube Industries, Ltd. announced the integration of its three chemical subsidiaries in Spain, merging UBE Chemical Europe, S.A.U. and UBE Engineering Plastics, S.A.U. into UBE Corporation Europe, S.A.U. The merger is effective March 31, 2016.
Post-Merger Operations
UBE Corporation Europe will continue as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ube Industries, Ltd., absorbing its Spanish subsidiaries. It will oversee administrative operations and continue manufacturing and marketing nylon resin, caprolactam, ammonium sulfate, and fine chemicals.
Reorganization and Expansion
In April 2015, Ube Industries launched a new Chemicals Company by integrating its existing Chemicals & Plastics Company and Specialty Chemicals & Products Company. This reorganization aims to restore earnings and optimize business resources in the chemicals segment.
Nylon Business Strategy
The UBE Group is focusing on global expansion of its nylon business. In February 2015, UBE Engineering Plastics increased its production capacity by 10,000 tonnes, reaching a total of 30,000 tonnes annually, with further expansion plans under consideration.
