Vynova Invests in KOH and NaOH Expansion

At a glance
  • KOH facility in Tessenderlo on track for Q2 2018 completion.
  • NaOH capacity expansion in Tessenderlo by early 2019.
  • Expansion will create additional chlorine (Cl2) capacity for EDC production.
  • ICIG owns a converted KOH facility in Thann, France.

KOH Facility Progress

The construction of the new potassium hydroxide (KOH) membrane electrolysis facility in Tessenderlo, Belgium, is on schedule. The project is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2018, replacing the existing mercury cell room.

NaOH Capacity Expansion

Vynova plans to significantly expand the sodium hydroxide (NaOH) capacity at the Tessenderlo site. This expansion is set to be completed by early 2019 and will also increase the production capacity of chlorine (Cl2), which will be used for ethylene dichloride (EDC) production.

Commitment to Market

These investments highlight Vynova's long-term commitment to the KOH and NaOH markets. The company aims to strengthen its position as a reliable supplier in these sectors.

ICIG's Role

International Chemical Investors Group (ICIG), the parent company of Vynova, already operates a successfully converted KOH production facility in Thann, France. The new facility in Tessenderlo will further solidify ICIG's leading position as the only membrane producer of KOH with two production sites in Europe.
