Investment and Capacity Increase
BASF SONATRACH PropanChem, a propylene producer located in the Tarragona Chemmed Cluster, is investing nearly €10 million to eliminate bottlenecks in its production process. This project aims to increase the plant's annual capacity from 370,000 to 420,000 tons, driven by an expected rise in demand in the short and medium term.
Project Implementation
The project will focus on enhancing the capacity of various equipment that currently limits production. Implementation is scheduled for the next maintenance stop in 2021, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Strategic Timing
This investment aligns with the company's recent strong economic performance and follows the milestone of reaching 5 million tons of production in November 2018. In that year, the plant also achieved a record production of 379,000 tons.
