Groundbreaking Ceremony
Nippon Shokubai Europe N.V. held a groundbreaking ceremony on November 10, 2015, for new Superabsorbent Polymer (SAP) and Acrylic Acid (AA) plants at its site in Antwerp, Belgium.
Expansion Decision
Due to the steady growth in demand for SAP, particularly as a key material in disposable diapers, Nippon Shokubai decided to expand its SAP production along with its main raw material, AA. This decision was initially announced in May of the same year.
Market Focus
In Europe, the company anticipates consistent demand for SAP, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. The new plants will help ensure a more stable supply of both SAP and AA in these regions.
Production Capacity
With the addition of the new plant in Antwerp, Nippon Shokubai's global SAP production capacity will increase to 710,000 metric tons per year, reinforcing its position as one of the world's leading suppliers of SAP.
