Completion Ceremony
Nippon Shokubai held a completion ceremony for its new superabsorbent polymers (SAP) and Acrylic Acid (AA) plants at NSE in Antwerp, Belgium, on October 2, 2018.
Vertical Integration
The new AA plant, a key raw material for SAP, allows for consistent production of both AA and SAP at the same site. This vertical integration is a significant advantage for the company.
Growing Demand
SAP, essential for diapers, is a core product for Nippon Shokubai. Global demand for SAP is steadily increasing, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. To meet this demand, the company has expanded its SAP production facility in Europe.
Increased Production Capacity
With the new AA plant, Nippon Shokubai has enhanced its ability to produce SAP from raw materials within Europe, strengthening its global supply capability. The production capacity for AA increased from 780 KT/Y in 2017 to 880 KT/Y in 2018, and for SAP from 610 KT/Y to 710 KT/Y.
