The permit allows construction of Europe's most sustainable steam cracker, reducing CO2 emissions significantly. The project will create 450 direct jobs and aims for climate neutrality within 10 years.
The ethylene cracker construction is prioritized, delaying the propylene plant. The new cracker will use advanced technologies, maximizing efficiency and minimizing CO2 emissions.
The new plants enable consistent AA and SAP production, enhancing supply capability in Europe. SAP demand is growing, especially in Central and Eastern Europe. Production capacity has increased.
Jacobs will provide engineering, procurement, and construction management for a $390M expansion of a Superabsorbent Polymer Plant and new acrylic acid plant in Zwijndrecht, Belgium, completing by Oct 2017.
The investment includes a 100,000 T/Y SAP plant expansion and a new 100,000 T/Y AA plant, enhancing supply stability and increasing global SAP capacity to 710,000 T/Y. Completion by May 2018.
The ENB plant's capacity increased to 28,000 tonnes, making it the largest globally. This expansion supports growing demand, especially for EPDM rubber used in automotive, white goods, and construction.
The new terminal will handle one million tonnes annually, connect to key facilities via the ARG pipeline, and enhance competitiveness and market dynamics in Europe. Expected operation starts in 2012.
INEOS Antwerp site lies in the Antwerp cluster, one of the 16 chemical clusters of Northwest Europe. Cluster Watch maps what each is building and closing, and the pipelines between them.
