Expansion Details

INEOS Oxide has successfully expanded its Ethylidene Norbornene (ENB) plant at its Antwerp facility, increasing its capacity to 28,000 tonnes. This expansion, completed during Q4 2013, makes it the largest ENB plant in the world.

Market Demand

The expansion addresses the ongoing global growth and demand from new ENB customers, particularly those producing ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM). This debottlenecking effort is expected to provide sufficient ENB for the next 2-3 years.

Applications of ENB

ENB is primarily used in the production of EPDM, a high-performance rubber known for its wear and weather resistance. EPDM is increasingly favored in the automotive, white goods, and construction industries. Additionally, ENB's unique molecular structure makes it valuable in the fragrance and flavors industry as a scent carrier.
