Biomca has opened the first sodium hypochlorite factory in the Canary Islands, with a production capacity of over 27,000 tons per year. The facility, located in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife port fishing dock, required an investment of 6 million euros and nine months of construction. Currently operating at 66% capacity, the factory is supplying around 17,000 tons of sodium hypochlorite annually. The production process uses cell membrane electrolysis, which is considered the most innovative and energy-efficient technology for this activity.

Biomca inaugurated the first sodium hypochlorite factory in the Canary Islands capable of producing more than 27,000 tons a year to supply the needs for this product on the islands. The facilities are located on a plot of land within the Free Trade Zone in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife port fishing dock, where some 6 million euros and nine months of work have been invested for its construction.

The plant has been designed for an annual sodium hypochlorite production of over 27,000 tons. The factory is currently operating at 66% of its capacity, this means it is supplying around 17,000 tons a year.

The chlorine that is used to produce sodium hypochlorite is made through cell membrane electrolysis, regarded as the best available technique for this activity, as it represents the most innovative and efficient technology from the energy consumption standpoint.
