The partnership enables UPM to secure pulpwood and by-products, while Versowood gains log supply and ownership of UPM's Korkeakoski sawmill. UPM also acquires a minority stake in Versowood.

UPM extends Kaukas mill shutdown to October 11, 2025, and plans a two-week shutdown at Pietarsaari in November to adapt to market conditions and high wood costs.

The mill, operational since August 2017, produces 1.3 million tonnes of pulp annually, plus bioproducts like tall oil, turpentine, and bioenergy. It also explores new bioproducts and industrial ecosystem expansion.

The Äänekoski mill's board machine rebuild boosts capacity by 30,000 t to 240,000 tpy. The project, part of a larger investment, also increased production at Simpele and Kyro mills by 120,000 tpy.
