Contract Award
The Linde Group has secured a significant contract from PJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim (NKNK) to supply an olefin plant in Nizhnekamsk, Tatarstan, Russia. The agreement was signed in St. Petersburg, witnessed by high-profile officials including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Project Scope
Under the contract, Linde will handle licensing, design, material procurement, and technical engineering consulting for the plant. The new olefin complex will be built at Eastern Europe's largest petrochemical hub in Nizhnekamsk.
Production Capacity
In its initial phase, the plant will have the capacity to produce 600,000 tonnes of ethylene and over 600,000 tonnes of other chemical products annually. Future expansions will double this capacity with the addition of another plant.
Technical Details
The plant will feature a naphtha cracker that thermally breaks down hydrocarbon feedstocks into olefins such as ethylene, propene, and butadiene. These olefins will serve as feedstocks for manufacturing various plastics.
Timeline
The new olefin plant is scheduled to commence operations in 2022, with Linde also aiming to support NKNK in subsequent project phases.
