- Isopropanol plant expansion to be completed by end of Q1 2022.
- First IPA batch from expanded plant by April 1st.
- Yearly capacity to increase by 70% to 120 Kt.
- Energy consumption to reduce by 66%, cutting CO2 emissions by 10 Kt annually.
Project Timeline
The isopropanol (IPA) plant capacity expansion, initially announced in Q2 2020 and authorized in November 2020, is nearing completion and is expected to be finalized by the end of Q1 2022. Final engineering tests will be conducted from mid-February into March, with the first IPA batch from the expanded plant scheduled for production by April 1st.
Capacity Increase
Upon completion, the plant will add an annual capacity of up to 50 Ktons of isopropyl alcohol, bringing the total capacity at the Roussillon site to 120 Kt per year. This represents a 70% increase compared to the current production levels.
Energy Efficiency
The upgraded plant will operate under enhanced energy standards, resulting in a 66% reduction in energy consumption. This improvement will also lead to a significant decrease in CO2 emissions, eliminating at least 10 thousand tons of CO2 annually.
Certification
The new and expanded IPA production will be certified by the International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council (IPEC), ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards for all users of isopropyl alcohol as a pharmaceutical excipient.
