Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen has announced that Sabic will invest £850 million into a new green energy project at Wilton, Teesside. This investment will safeguard thousands of jobs in the region.
Project Details
Sabic, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, will restart its hydrocarbon cracker at Wilton and convert it to run on hydrogen, a greener energy source. The Olefins 6 plant, which has been shut down for over a year, breaks down hydrocarbons into chemicals such as ethylene. The conversion to hydrogen will support the Government’s green energy goals.
