Formation of POLYVANTIS
POLYVANTIS is a new global player in the acrylics and polycarbonate film and sheet industry, resulting from the merger of Röhm’s Acrylic Products business unit and SABIC’s Functional Forms business. The new entity will offer a range of products including films, sheets, pipes, and rods, serving various segments such as building & construction, transportation & aviation, electrical & electronics, automotive, and home & garden.

Acquisition Agreement
In December 2022, Röhm signed an agreement to acquire SABIC’s Functional Forms Division for polycarbonate film and sheet products globally. The carve-out of Röhm’s Acrylic Products business and SABIC’s Functional Forms business, along with the closing of the deal, is expected around Q2 2024, subject to regulatory approvals.
Brand and Licensing
Long-term license agreements have been concluded with both Röhm and SABIC for their respective brands in their segments. The PLEXIGLAS® / ACRYLITE® molding compounds business will remain with Röhm, while the polycarbonate LEXAN™ resin business will stay with SABIC.
