Production Expansion
The Ercros factory in Tortosa has expanded its production capacity for polyols to meet increasing market demand. The polyols produced include pentaerythritol and dipentaerythritol, used in paints, varnishes, synthetic lubricants, and printing inks, as well as sodium formate, used for deicing in airports and in the tanning industry.
Increased Capacity
The combined capacity of the pentaerythritol and dipentaerythritol plants has increased by 5,000 t/year, a 17% rise, reaching a total capacity of 35,000 t/year. The sodium formate plant's capacity has also increased by 3,000 t/year, another 17% increase, reaching 23,000 t/year.
Technological Improvements
The investment in expanding these plants includes technological advancements in manufacturing processes and improved energy efficiency. These enhancements bolster the competitive position of the Tortosa factory and Ercros overall.
Research and Development
These technological improvements are the result of internal efforts by the R&D and engineering departments of Ercros' intermediate chemicals division.
Market Reach
The Tortosa factory supplies nearly all consumers in the Spanish market and exports approximately 80% of its production to over 48 countries. The increased production volume from the expanded plants is aimed at consolidating and expanding Ercros' presence in America, Europe, and Asia.
