New production record
The Búzios field surpassed its previous output record and averaged 1,200,000 barrels per day of oil on 26/6.
Short-term trend
The new record came only three days after the field broke a prior record of 1,100,000 barrels per day.
What drove the increase
Expansion of activities on platforms P-78 and P-79, which are in ramp-up toward maximum capacity of 180,000 bpd each, enabled the higher output.
Infrastructure and expansion plans
The field currently has eight producing units in operation: platforms P-74, P-75, P-76, P-77, P-78 and P-79, plus the FPSOs Almirante Barroso and Almirante Tamandaré.
Almirante Tamandaré is cited as the largest in nominal production capacity in the country at 225,000 barrels/day, extendable to up to 270,000 barrels/day.
In total, 12 FPSOs will operate in Búzios; FPSOs P-80, P-82 and P-83 are under construction and the Búzios 12 unit is in bidding.
