China National Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Corporation (CNODC) is the international exploration and production arm of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), responsible for managing and investing in CNPC’s overseas oil and natural gas portfolio. The company focuses on upstream activities—geological exploration, field development, and production—often through production-sharing contracts and joint ventures with national and international partners.
CNODC operates and holds interests in onshore and offshore projects across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Latin America, and the Asia–Pacific. In addition to upstream operations, it participates in related midstream arrangements where linked to its fields, including pipelines and LNG offtake, to bring hydrocarbons to market. By supplying crude oil and natural gas that underpin fuels and serve as key feedstocks, CNODC is a significant upstream contributor to global energy and petrochemical value chains.
