Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) is Brazil’s state-controlled, integrated energy company headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. It operates across the oil and gas value chain, with core activities in offshore exploration and production—particularly deepwater and ultra-deepwater pre-salt fields—alongside refining, logistics, and fuel marketing throughout Brazil.
Petrobras runs one of Latin America’s largest refining systems and is a major supplier to the Brazilian chemical industry. Its refineries and gas processing facilities produce and market petrochemical feedstocks and derivatives such as naphtha, LPG, propylene, aromatics, solvents, sulfur, asphalt, and base oils, supporting domestic plastics, industrial chemicals, and specialty products.
