Voyage and platform specifications
The P-82 platform departed the Tuas Boulevard Yard shipyard in Singapore on 18/10 bound for the Búzios field in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. It is the second 80-series unit to start its voyage in under a month, following the P-80, which left on 30/9. The unit measures 345.3 metres by 60 metres and weighs more than 100,000 tonnes. The 80 series has a nominal production capacity of 225 thousand barrels per day and capacity to compress 12 million cubic metres of gas.
Schedule and field outlook
P-82 is expected to start operating next year. The Búzios field is operated by Petrobras with partners CNOOC, CNPC and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA). It is expected that 11 platforms will be operating at Búzios by the end of 2027.
Series construction and benefits
Building the 80-series in sequence aims to reduce costs, increase shipyard productivity, improve system reliability, lower project risk and speed field development. The units incorporate lessons learned from prior builds, advanced technologies and digital solutions to improve operational and energy efficiency. Petrobras is also using direct sailings with crews on board to enhance operational readiness.
Supply chain and contracting
Process modules for P-82 were manufactured in Brazil at Seatrium Aracruz and in Singapore and China, then transported to Singapore for final assembly. The platforms were contracted under an EPC model covering engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning. Petrobras has planned investments of US$109 billion for 2026–30, with 75% directed to Exploration & Production.
