AIQBE posts record €827M investment in industrial infrastructure

Record investment and flagship projects
AIQBE’s 2025 Annual Report records a historic investment volume of €827 million linked to major projects in the Huelva industrial hub, including the second-generation biofuels plant by Moeve and Bio-Oils and Atlantic Copper’s CirCular project. The report describes this as the largest investment in the association’s history and the third consecutive annual high.
Economic and employment impact
The activity of associated companies generated 23,303 jobs linked to the sector, representing more than 10.3% of provincial employment. In 2025 the association’s members produced over 3,390 direct jobs and around 4,171 jobs in auxiliary companies, with each direct AIQBE job reportedly creating an additional six jobs across the Huelva economy. The industrial activity generated an economic impact of €2,161 million, equivalent to 19% of the province’s GVA.
Sustainability, R&D and energy transition
Associated companies allocated about €272 million to environmental protection and energy efficiency and more than €179 million to research and development in 2025. Strategic initiatives cited include a 2G renewable-fuels plant to double capacity to one million tonnes, Enagás’ hydrogen transport infrastructure work and Atlantic Copper’s critical-metals recovery for circular production chains.
Skills, safety and community commitments
Industry jobs are described as stable and qualified, with 90% permanent contracts and salaries about double the provincial average. In 2025 members delivered over 285,000 training hours across 4,300+ courses for 13,000+ people, hosted 362 vocational trainees and invested more than €1.1 million in social initiatives. The sector reports 85% of waste recycled or recovered and accident rates below provincial and national averages.
