Atlantic Copper

About Atlantic Copper

Atlantic Copper is a Spanish non‑ferrous metals company focused on copper smelting and refining. A subsidiary of Freeport‑McMoRan, it operates one of Europe’s major integrated smelter‑refinery complexes in Huelva, Spain, processing copper concentrates and secondary materials into LME‑grade copper cathodes.

In addition to refined copper, the company produces key by‑products including sulfuric acid, anode slimes (from which precious metals such as gold and silver are recovered), selenium, tellurium, and iron silicate slag. Its sulfuric acid output supplies downstream chemical and industrial markets, linking the company closely to the broader chemical value chain.

Atlantic Copper serves European and global customers in electrical, industrial, and chemical applications, with operations centered on efficient resource use and recovery of metals and chemical by‑products from complex raw materials.
