Project Overview
ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions has secured a follow-up contract from Hungarian fertilizer manufacturer Nitrogénmüvek Zrt. to expand its production capacity. The project involves constructing a 1,150 ton per day nitric acid plant in Pétfürdö, approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Budapest. The contract value is in the high double-digit million euro range, with completion scheduled for 2017.
Existing Operations
Nitrogénmüvek Zrt. already operates two ammonium nitrate plants supplied by ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions at the Pétfürdö site. Additionally, a plant for manufacturing granulated calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) and ammonium nitrate fertilizer is currently under construction.
Scope of Work
ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of the new nitric acid plant. This comprehensive scope ensures a streamlined process from start to finish.
Strategic Importance
The expansion project is significant in the context of global agricultural productivity. With the world's population growing rapidly, the demand for food is increasing. Efficient fertilizer plants like the one being constructed play a crucial role in raising agricultural productivity and conserving resources, thereby helping to meet the rising food demand despite limited arable land.
