New S-SBR Pilot Plant

Trinseo has announced plans to build a new Solution-Styrene Butadiene Rubber (S-SBR) pilot plant in Schkopau, Germany. This facility is part of the company's Synthetic Rubber Business and aims to enhance production efficiency and innovation in the Performance Tires market. The pilot plant is scheduled to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Accelerating Development

The new pilot plant will streamline the development process from lab samples to commercialization. It will produce sufficient quantities of new S-SBR formulations required for real-life tire testing, allowing for quicker evaluation of both process and product parameters. This will help reduce product validation time and accelerate the time to market for new performance tire innovations.

Strategic Investment

This strategic investment will enable Trinseo to be more agile and flexible in S-SBR product testing. The pilot plant will serve as a valuable technology capability, helping performance tire makers meet new market trends more efficiently.
