MOL/JSR Synthetic Rubber Plant in Hungary Completed

Plant Inauguration

MOL Group and JSR Corporation have inaugurated their synthetic rubber plant in Tiszaújváros, Hungary. The facility will produce 60,000 tons of solution polymerization styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR) annually, creating over 100 new jobs.

Production Details

The plant utilizes cutting-edge technology to manufacture S-SBR, a key material for fuel-efficient and eco-friendly tires. The primary feedstock, butadiene, is supplied by an adjacent MOL plant commissioned in 2015.

Joint Venture

MOL and JSR Corporation established a joint venture in 2013, with JSR holding a 51% stake and MOL 49%. Construction of the plant began in 2015 and has now been completed.

Strategic Investment

As part of its 2030 strategy, MOL aims to expand its petrochemical value chain and invest approximately USD 4.5 billion in petrochemical and chemical growth projects by the end of the next decade.
