Capacity Expansion
Vinnolit GmbH & Co. KG is set to expand its Knapsack plant by increasing the capacities of chlorine, EDC, and VCM. The addition of a new electrolyzer using membrane technology will boost the annual chlorine capacity to 310 kt. Both EDC (via direct chlorination) and VCM capacities will be raised to 370 kt annually. These expansions aim to reduce the dependency on external EDC purchases and support the planned growth of Paste-PVC production at the Burghausen plant.
Investment in S-PVC Production
Further investments are being made to optimize Suspension-PVC (S-PVC) production. Vinnolit is enhancing its proprietary high-performance internal cooling technology at the Knapsack site. This state-of-the-art technology is expected to improve space-time yield and cost efficiency. The combined investments in the Knapsack and Burghausen plants amount to approximately €30 million.
