Project Overview
INOVYN is set to expand its VCM and ECU capacities at the Rafnes site in Norway. The project aims to increase VCM capacity by approximately 70 ktes per year, which will support vinyl production at Porsgrunn, Stenungsund, and Newton Aycliffe sites. Additionally, the project will boost ECU capacity by 35 ktes per year to supply caustic soda customers in Scandinavia.
VCM Investment
Wood has been appointed as the principal Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management (EPCM) contractor for the VCM investment. This includes the installation of a new High Temperature Direct Chlorination process area, a new oxychlorination reactor, and various debottlenecking activities. The additional VCM capacity is expected to be operational by Q3 2019.
ECU Investment
The EPCM contractor for the ECU investment has not yet been decided. The additional ECU volumes are anticipated to be available from Q1 2020.
