Plant Upgrade Completion
OMV AG has successfully completed the extension of its butadiene plant at the Schwechat refinery in Austria. The upgrade, which began in September 2013, was finalized in late April 2014, coming in on time and under budget.
Increased Production Capacity
The expansion has increased the plant’s butadiene production capacity to 60,000 tonnes per year. The upgraded facility began operations on May 2, 2014.
Investment Details
The project involved an investment of $41 million. Initially announced in 2013, the project was expected to start production in June 2014, but it commenced earlier in May.
Future Projects
OMV is also advancing with the construction of a new butadiene plant at its Burghausen refinery in Germany. This plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2015.
