Kazanorgsintez to Build EVA Plant Using Japanese Technology

At a glance
  • The new plant will produce 100,000 tons of EVA annually.
  • Sumitomo Chemical is the licensor.
  • The plant will replace outdated facilities from 1980.
  • The technology allows production of both EVA and LDPE.

Project Overview

Kazanorgsintez PJSC has announced the construction of a new Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) and Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) plant. The Japanese company Sumitomo Chemical will act as the licensor for this project.

Production Capacity

The new facility will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of EVA or LDPE. It will be located on an empty space within the Kazanorgsintez territory and will replace the existing, outdated production unit that was launched in 1980.

Funding and Implementation

The project will be funded through a combination of the company's own funds and leveraged financing. The new plant aims to increase EVA production by 7.5 times compared to the current output.

Market Impact

Kazanorgsintez is currently the sole EVA producer in Russia, holding a 20% share of the domestic market. The new plant will not only replace imported products but also enable the company to enter external markets.

Technological Advancements

The plant will utilize a special design Autoclave Reactor, which ensures more efficient consumption of feedstock and utilities, reducing production costs and environmental impact. The technology is flexible, allowing the production of both EVA and LDPE, and is already in use in Japan, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia.
