Shutdown Due to Gas Prices

On August 22, 2022, Grupa Azoty S.A. decided to temporarily shut down its nitrogen fertilizer, caprolactam, and polyamide 6 production units due to record natural gas prices. The surge in gas prices, driven by geopolitical tensions following Russia's aggression against Ukraine, saw prices rise from EUR 72/MWh on February 22, 2022, to EUR 276/MWh on August 22, 2022.

Continued Production

Despite the shutdown of certain units, the company continues to produce catalysts, polyamide casings, humic acids, thermoplastic starch, and concentrated nitric acid. Essential services such as the CHP plant, drinking water treatment plant, and wastewater treatment plants will remain operational to ensure process safety and fulfill external supply obligations.

Investment and Repairs

During the temporary shutdown, Grupa Azoty S.A. will carry out investment and repair work, including the scheduled overhaul of the Polyamide unit. This period will be used to maintain and upgrade facilities to ensure future operational efficiency.
