Greenalia and P2X-Europe Partner on eFuel Project in Galicia

At a glance
  • The Breogán project will produce over 11,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually.
  • The facility will generate around 20,000 tonnes of synthetic hydrocarbons per year.
  • The project will use green hydrogen from renewable sources and biogenic CO2 from Greenalia's biomass plant.
  • The facility will be located in the Curtis-Teixeiro industrial area in Galicia.

Project Overview

Greenalia and P2X-Europe have signed a collaboration agreement to develop the Breogán project in Galicia, Spain. This initiative focuses on producing sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) using green hydrogen and biogenic CO2.

Production Details

The project aims to produce over 11,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually in its initial phase. Combined with biogenic CO2, this will generate around 20,000 tonnes of synthetic hydrocarbons ready for refining into sustainable fuels and chemical base materials.

Facility Location

The facility will be located in the Curtis-Teixeiro industrial area. It will utilize green hydrogen produced from renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, and biogenic CO2 sourced from Greenalia's biomass plant in Curtis-Teixeiro.

Strategic Importance

Galicia is considered an optimal location for this project due to its renewable energy potential, substantial industrial base, and excellent port and logistics infrastructure. The project aims to position Galicia as a leader in green hydrogen and synthetic fuel production.
