- A Letter of Intent was signed for a PET biorecycling plant in Saint-Fons, France.
- Construction of the demonstration plant is expected to start mid-2019.
- TechnipFMC will assist CARBIOS with the engineering study.
- The project aims to create a circular economy for PET plastics and fibers.
Project Overview
CARBIOS has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with KEM ONE to develop a PET biorecycling demonstration plant in the French Chemical Valley. This plant aims to showcase CARBIOS' breakthrough technology for creating a circular economy for PET plastics and fibers.
Technology and Sustainability
PET plastics and fibers, commonly used in consumer goods like bottles and textiles, are typically produced from fossil resources and discarded in a linear fashion. CARBIOS' biorecycling technology offers a sustainable solution by using waste plastics and fibers to produce new virgin material without quality loss.
Collaboration Details
Under the LOI, CARBIOS and KEM ONE will collaborate over the next six months to plan the plant's implementation on KEM ONE’s industrial site in Saint-Fons. CARBIOS will study the construction of the plant, while KEM ONE will assist in mobilizing stakeholders and defining conditions for land, utilities, and services.
Engineering Support
TechnipFMC, a global leader in engineering and technologies, will assist CARBIOS with the engineering study for the demonstration plant. Construction is expected to begin mid-2019.
