Project Overview
Casale and Borsodchem, a subsidiary of Wahua Chemical Group, have signed a contract for a new 660 MTD nitric acid plant at the Kazincbarcika factory in Hungary. The plant will produce 68% strength nitric acid and will utilize Casale’s NA2000 dual-pressure process, the same technology used in the first unit at the site, operational since 2012.
Scope of Supply
Casale’s responsibilities include providing the license, basic engineering, reviewing detailed engineering, and offering site assistance. This comprehensive scope ensures the new plant will meet the same high standards as the existing unit.
Technology Background
The NA2000 dual-pressure nitric acid process was originally developed by GPN and acquired by Casale in 2014 from Borealis, along with Borealis’s nitrates and phosphates fertilizer technology portfolio. This process is known for its efficiency and reliability, making it a suitable choice for Borsodchem’s second plant.
