Acquisition Details
GETEC heat & power AG, through its subsidiary GETEC Infra NL B.V., will acquire the Emmtec Industry & Business Park in Emmen from Nuon. The acquisition ensures employment for Emmtec’s approximately 200 employees, with all existing cooperation and commercial arrangements continuing. The deal is subject to antitrust approval and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
Emmtec Industry Park
Emmtec Service B.V. owns and operates the Emmtec Industry & Business Park, which spans 115 hectares, making it the second largest of its kind in the Netherlands. The park is a significant employer in the region, with over 1300 people working for various companies. Emmtec specializes in (bio) polymers and fibres, holding a top position in Europe in this field. The park provides energy and utilities, including electricity, gas, steam, and water, along with services such as sewage treatment, engineering, logistics, and laboratory services.
Strategic Importance
The acquisition aligns with GETEC GROUP's internationalization strategy and aims to strengthen its operations in the European market. According to Volker Schulz, CEO of GETEC heat & power AG, the acquisition will significantly enhance GETEC's competencies in the chemical industry. The heart of the industrial park is a highly efficient Combined Cycle Power Plant that produces 60 MW of electrical power and around 200 tonnes of steam per hour. GETEC anticipates a turnover increase of approximately 60 million euros per year from this acquisition.
