ISCC PLUS Certification

In July 2025, Twaron® production processes received ISCC PLUS certification, confirming compliance with international sustainability standards for sourcing alternative feedstocks. This certification enhances transparency and traceability, allowing materials made with bio-based or circular inputs to carry verified claims.

Sustainability Efforts

Since 2014, Twaron® has reduced its carbon footprint by 28%. All production in the Netherlands now operates on 100% renewable electricity. These efforts are part of a broader goal to become the most sustainable aramid producer globally.

Mass Balance Approach

The certification supports the use of the mass balance approach, enabling the integration of conventional and certified materials in the same production process. This ensures accurate documentation and auditing of inputs and outputs, allowing for the introduction of more sustainable content without compromising performance.

Exploring Circularity

Teijin Aramid is collaborating with European partners to explore the recovery and reuse of end-of-life aramid materials in new industrial applications. Although in early stages, this initiative aims to build a more circular ecosystem around Twaron®.
