Project Overview
Technip has been awarded an EPC contract for the core process units of Cargill’s new ethanol production plant in Barby, Germany. The plant will be constructed on a greenfield site adjacent to Cargill’s existing wheat processing facility.
Production Details
The new facility will produce ethanol intended for use in beverages, cosmetics, and the pharmaceutical industry. It will include a fermentation unit and a distillation/rectification unit. Upon completion, Technip will assist with the start-up and performance testing of the new units.
Execution and Timeline
The contract will be executed by Technip's operating center in Düsseldorf, Germany. The project is scheduled for completion by the second half of 2015.
Technological Advancements
The new units will incorporate the latest technology developments, drawing on feedback from a similar plant built by Technip for Cargill in Sas van Gent, The Netherlands, in 2005.
