Cargill has announced a 60 million Euro investment to build a new ethanol facility in Barby, Saxony Anhalt, Germany. This new plant will be situated alongside Cargill’s existing wheat processing plant on the company’s site in Barby.
Production and Technology
The new facility will produce premium ethanol intended for the German and European beverage, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. It will utilize state-of-the-art technology and primarily use locally grown wheat from the adjacent wheat facility as feedstock.
Operational Timeline
The plant is expected to be operational by the autumn of 2015. It will adhere to the highest environmental, food, and health and safety standards, employing the best available technologies.
Expansion and Network
This new facility will complement Cargill’s existing network of ethanol plants located in Manchester, United Kingdom; Sas van Gent and Bergen op Zoom, The Netherlands; and Wroclaw, Poland.
